Szerelmey delivered internal and external works at 3 & 10 Finsbury Square. The external project was particularly complex. The front facade of the building features a supporting steel structure that the Client wished to disguise. A design for a complicated, custom limestone column was devised to encase the steel.
This comprised eight blocks of Moca Creme limestone and is double-storey height, being approximately 8.5m. Situated adjacent to the main entrance of the building, the column has a unique freeform geometric shape, with each block cut using a 3D model programmed to a water cutting machine at the factory in Portugal. It is set on a base of Carioca Gold granite.
Szerelmey also installed York stone hard landscaping around the column. In addition Szerelmey undertook all the flooring and skirting to the reception area and flooring to four lift cars using Jura limestone. The flooring in the reception area was installed using a hollow floor system of calcium sulphate board adhered to pedestals. In the lift cars the limestone panels were installed using a lightweight honeycomb aluminium backing system to reduce weight.
