1 New Oxford Street – Externals

Client: TH Real Estate

Principal Contractor: Mace

Architect: Orms

Package Value: £1.7M

The redevelopment of the Art Deco 1 New Oxford Street, also known as Commonwealth House, required a variety of Szerelmey’s skills and involved our new build and restoration divisions. Externally we supplied and installed hexagonal green pyrolave units at 40mm thick, each one individually fixed back. In addition to hexagonal tiles we installed pyrolave cladding to the fins and grills that run horizontally along the side of the building and stone render to the remaining facade.

Our restoration team cleaned and repaired existing external brickwork and the Art Deco clock tower. Internally we laid black and white geometrically patterned conglomerate flooring in grey in the public areas, across the reception and in the lift lobbies. Externally we laid York stone and granite paving along Dun Passage.
