Szerelmey Volunteers at the Vauxhall Foodbank

Szerelmey is very proud to be involved in volunteering with local charities to support communities and vulnerable people in society. This month we were at the Vauxhall Foodbank which is a part of the Trussell Trust. The trust supports communities and churches to open foodbanks across the UK. Our team members had a great time spending a few hours sorting and storing nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food donated from supermarkets and other organisations.

We also helped prepare food packages for clients who bring their referral vouchers to a centre where it can be redeemed for three days’ emergency food. Whilst their food parcel was being prepared, we also helped in the cafe kitchen to cook and serve breakfast and some warm drinks.

Food bank centres provide emergency food and support to people in crisis. It is great to be able to make a real difference in the fight against poverty! If you are interested in volunteering please visit The Trussell Trust website.
