Congratulations to Mark Walden!!
Mark Walden, our Head of Design, has been granted his Freedom of the City of London this week, which is part of the process of him being admitted as a Liveryman in the Worshipful Company of Masons. This is a great honour and we are very proud of him! Mark has worked in the industry for over 40 years, first as a trained stonemason before moving to design.
Being granted the Freedom of the City of London has several historic privileges associated with it, not least the right to drive livestock over London Bridge without paying a toll! Although this right technically no longer applies since there are no tolls in place (and driving livestock through the streets may cause chaos) there are still “sheep drives” organised periodically to raise money for charity.
