The Michelin Building, with its colourful and distinctive faience facade is one of London’s iconic buildings. It was commissioned in 1909 by the Michelin Tyre Company Ltd and was designed by Francoise Espinasse, one of the company’s employees. Szerelmey undertook extensive cleaning, replacement and restoration of the famous facade.
This involved replacing a large number of bespoke, hand crafted faience tiles which were individually colour matched to blend with the existing pieces. In addition Szerelmey undertook a complete redecoration of the extensive metalwork on the exterior to return the building to its original splendour.
