Hanover Retained Facades

Szerelmey Restoration has recently completed a major package of works including the cleaning, repair and restoration of seven historic retained facades on Bond Street and Brook Street as well as an iconic Grade II* listed property on Hanover Square; the first home of the Royal Society of Medicine. The scope of works is extremely varied and includes a combination of brick, terracotta, limestone and granite repairs as well as the construction of new chimneys. The buildings were cleaned and surveyed, with a comprehensive defects and repairs schedule drawn up. The Client then selected which areas of repair and restoration to undertake. All the cast iron on the facades is being stripped back, undercoated and repainted with a traditional black top coat to protect it from weathering. Other works include extensive stone repairs and replacements, extensive terracotta repair and replacement, widespread brick repairs, replacement and tuck pointing, repair to granite columns and the replacement of an ionic capital to match existing, plus the replacement of the existing copper dome on the turret of 69 New Bond Street.
